iQIYI Upgrades Revenue-Sharing Model, Driving Stronger Data Transparency across Seven Terminals

From Oct. 1, iQIYI officially adopts a new revenue-sharing model for dramas, animes, children’s content, and documentaries. With the current model already determines revenue share based on member viewing hours, the updated model allows the revenue from subscription to be equally split between the platform and producers after deducting the relevant channel costs. Also under the new model, the platform will cease rating the content but instead shares the viewing and revenue data from seven terminals—including mobile phone, TV, computer, tablet, smart home, Internet of Vehicles and virtual reality— with producers to facilitate better understanding of content performance across iQIYI terminals, helping drive more effective operation and marketing.

Since iQIYI first launched the revenue-sharing model for online dramas in 2016, the model has gradually covered more content areas, expanding the room for development for film and television companies, which helps give rise to many excellent content creators. The collaboration approach between iQIYI and content providers has also gradually shifted from splitting revenue based on view counts to focusing on member viewing hours and new member subscriptions. In addition, iQIYI has also gradually phased out its content rating practice while continuing to promote data transparency. Once determined by the platform but now decided by users, the new model creates a fairer media ecology.

Covering a range of themes and topics, the series offer viewers a wide variety of quality viewing options.
