The Bad Kids by iQIYI Becomes the First Chinese Short Drama to Win the Silver Bird Prize of Mini-series in SDA 2021
iQIYI original drama The Bad Kids won the Silver Bird prize of Mini-series at the 2021 Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) 2021 held on October 21, making the show the first Chinese short drama to win the award.

The Bad Kids was as an iQIYI suspense drama series in 2020. As it hit the market, the drama inspired much talk on the "rise of Chinese dramas". Apart from the aforementioned award, it also won the "Best Creative" award at the Asian Content Awards last year presented by the 2020 Busan International Film Festival, becoming the first Chinese TV drama series that receive the honor.
iQIYI Original K-series ‘Jirisan’ Become TvN’s Top Rated Weekend Drama Premiere in History
Jirisan, iQIYI Original Korean drama series, premiered over last weekend, exclusively and globally on the iQiyi International app or iQ.com. In Korea, Jirisan opened on Saturday (Oct 23) at the nationwide average rating of 9.1 percent and peaked at 10.7 percent to become Korean entertainment TV channel tvN’s top rated weekend drama premiere in history.

Jirisan stars Gianna Jun and Ju Ji-hoon and is created by director Lee Eung-bok (Descendants of The Sun, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) and writer Kim Eun-hee (Signal, Kingdom). The show portrays national park rangers who face typhoons, fires, floods and other untold dangers in their search-and-rescue missions.
iQIYI Announces that the Production of What Remains Will Start Soon
iQIYI announced on October 22 that the film What Remains will start shooting in Finland soon. The film, which assembles top-tiered international film crew, is funded and presented by iQIYI, directed and written by multi-media artist Huang Ran, and presented in association with Fake Action Truth. Huang’s short film The Administration of Glory, which stars Swedish actors Gustaf Skarsgard and Stellan Skarsgard, was shortlisted for Short Film Palme d'Or at the 67th Festival de Cannes.

Gustaf won the Shooting Star award at the Berlin International Film Festival and the Guldbagge Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and has starred in dramas including Vikings and Westworld. Stellan won the Silver Bear Award for Best Actor at Berlin International Film Festival and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor (Television). His outstanding performances in Chernobyl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Avengers: Age of Ultron and the major hit sci-fi epic Dune have won critical acclaim.

iQIYI holds its First “iQIYI HACK DAY” to Explore Cutting-Edge Technologies
The first iQIYI HACK DAY concluded successfully on October 24. The event lasted 41 days and attracted more than 300 tech enthusiasts to team up and participate in projects covering from AR, metaverse, blockchain, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies. Three teams were selected as final winners. LIU Wenfeng, CTO of iQIYI made a speech at the award ceremony, commenting the HACK DAY aims to explore how technology help involve in the future of entertainment.

iQIYI has made continuous efforts in technological innovation and talent development. Always taking creative steps, iQIYI was granted more than 390 patents in 2020 alone. Half of the company's employees are programmers, engineers, and product managers.
iQIYI Launches Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Production with Shanghai University
At the 5th International Summit Forum on Special Effects in Films on October 24, iQIYI and the Shanghai Film Academy of Shanghai University announced the launch of the Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Production. iQIYI will partner with Shanghai University through the joint lab on sound optimization, motion capture, and other frontier technologies. The two parties will release a short virtual film utilizing X-Wonder, a virtual production solution developed by iQIYI.
iQIYI ZoomAI Wins CCF Award for Innovation on Computer Science and Engineering
iQIYI received the 2021 CCF (China Computer Federation) Award for Innovation on Computer Science and Engineering for its innovative and industry-leading "ZoomAI-video restoration and enhancement technology". This is the fifth consecutive year that the company’s technological innovations have been recognized at the CCF awards. The awards this year also honor Tsinghua University, the Institute of Software Chinese Academy of Sciences, Renmin University of China, Lenovo Research Institute, and other institutes.
In addition, iQIYI has applied for 32 patents domestically—four already granted—and published two papers in leading international forums during algorithm development.
