iQIYI Partners with CRGT to Officially Launch Seamless Streaming Service Qisubo on China’s High-speed Rail
The seamless HD viewing experience is expected to be used more than 2 billion passengers annually
BEIJING, October 11, 2021-- iQIYI Inc. (NASDAQ: IQ) (“iQIYI” or the “Company”), an innovative market-leading online entertainment service in China, announced that it has partnered with China Railway Gecent Technology Co. Ltd (“CRGT”) , the official mobility service provider of China Railways, to provide a seamless viewing experience to high-speed rail passengers. The service will be delivered via Qisubo, on the “Qisu Section” of the iQIYI App, which has been optimized for network connections on the high-speed rail (HSR).
Starting September 28th, passengers on more than 500 train series of the high-speed line can watch an extensive selection of over 1,000 selected Ultra HD videos on the iQIYI platform, by simply going to the “Qisu Section” on the iQIYI App or Suike App when connected to HSR WiFi network. With the HSR WiFi network and Qisubo service becoming available on more train series in the near future, the service is expected to be used by more than 2 billion travelers annually.
Nowadays, users' demand for rich and Ultra HD video has become the norm. However on the HSR, due to various factors such as terrain change, base station coverage, ultra-high speed, compartment shielding and so on, the mobile network signal is very unstable, and the video viewing experience is greatly affected. As a matter of fact, there is still much room for improvement of network services in the travel scenario.
